THE IRISH WEAVERS 'LIVE' AT BLARNEY PARK

This is the Irish Weavers fourth, latest and best album to date. Recorded under record contract with a B.B.C. producer from Grassmere Recording Company there is an extremely live feel to this album. The Irish Weavers' show itself is best captured on video due to the highly entertaining and visual content of the show and having said that the best audio recording from the group would obviously be a live album and this is what we now finally have. There is sixteen tracks, 32 items in all, of lively traditional music, ballad, folk, comedy and personality. The album captures the essence of Irish music, song and culture and epitomises the liveliness and sentimentality of Irish entertainment.

On the album there are two original tracks. The first is a song written about the City of Cork. Sung by Spadgie in his own inimitable way, the beautiful, haunting melody and superb orchestral arrangement moves the listener while hearing of the attractiveness of The Mardyke, The River Lee, Shandon, The Coal Quay and other famous spots in Cork. There is an open invitation extended to visit this beautiful, historical and welcoming city. The second original song, 'Black '47', is the Irish Weavers contribution to the 150 year anniversaries of the Great Famine. It capture in a very simple manner the atmosphere and facts surrounding the great Irish Famine of the 1840's and the injustice surrounding famine across the world. The facts are there against a strong orchestral arrangement of flute, cellos, violins, piano and bass. A beautiful song with a beautiful arrangement.

There are five tracks of traditional Irish music of 14 reels, jigs and slow airs featuring the big flute (a very haunting and moving rendition of The Coolin), two row accordion, fiddle, tin whistle, timber flute, piano accordion, natural whistle (a very haunting and moving rendition of The Lonesome Boatman!) guitar and bodhran. The remaining tracks are lively medleys of 16 popular Irish songs. A quality and moving performance of quality musicianship and song capturing on c.d. and cassette. A must for anyone who enjoys Irish music, song and dance - what else would you expect from the Irish Weavers!
